Job Title: Remote Optometrist
Location: Ketchikan, Alaska
Practice: Ketchikan Eye Care Center
Position Overview
Ketchikan Eye Care Center is seeking an innovative and flexible Optometrist to join our team in a one-of-a-kind hybrid role. Be part of a modern, tech-enabled approach to delivering high-quality eye care.
Key Responsibilities
Remote Tele-Optometry
- Conduct comprehensive eye exams using telehealth technology
- Interpret diagnostic imaging and clinical data collected by trained technicians
- Diagnose and manage ocular conditions
- Prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and medications as appropriate
- Coordinate care with on-site staff to ensure seamless patient experience
- There will always be an “in-person” O.D. in the office as well to help with any patients whom you feel you cannot confidently diagnose via remote exams.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program
- Licensed in Alaska or eligible for licensure
- Comfortable with or interested in telehealth (training provided)
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- Self-motivated
Compensation & Benefits
- $130k base salary with additional bonus program
- Malpractice insurance coverage
- Continuing education allowance, renews annually

First Year requirements
- Optometrist will be required to travel to Ketchikan to see patients for the first year no more frequently than 1 week/month. Flights and housing paid by the company. You keep the Alaska Airlines rewards miles!
- This requirement may last less than 1 year. This is dependent on when we hire a full-time O.D. in the clinic.
